Scaravelli-Inspired Yoga with Somatic Influence: Mindful Movement for Every Body with Alexandra Jones of Meridian Yoga, Meditation and Relaxation Services.

 

Experience a gentle yet powerful approach to yoga, inspired by the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli and enriched with Somatic movement principles. The Yoga classes focuses on mindful, easeful movement, deep connection to the breath, and healing the spine through natural movement exploration and grounding.

 

Accessibility is at the heart of this practice. Whether you’re highly active or living with stiffness, injuries, joint or muscle issues, or stress-related tension, you’ll be guided safely and supportively to move in ways that feel right for your body. In the classes I have young adults 18 years to 85 years old. This class supports those wanting to develop and deeply strengthen and keep the body and mind activated, a deep combination of deep release and strengthening.

 

In this class, you will:

  • Move slowly and mindfully to release tension and rebalance the whole body
  • Explore breath-led movement that supports grounding and nervous system regulation
  • Gently mobilise and nourish the spine, promoting ease, fluidity and strength
  • Build body awareness and trust in your natural movement patterns
  • Experience a calmer mind and increased sense of wellbeing

 

Yoga has been shown to help:

  • Reduce cortisol and support a healthier stress response 
  • Decrease chronic tension and pain
  • Improve mood, sleep, and emotional balance 
  • Lower inflammation and support long-term wellbeing
  • Slow aspects of cellular aging
  • — and it’s genuinely enjoyable.

 

Classes take place in the beautiful Sugarloaf studio at The Centre of the Hills, spacious, carpeted room overlooking the hills — a peaceful setting with time and space to unwind, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.

You’ll be guided by a highly experienced, multi-award-winning teacher Alexandra Jones who has been teaching for over 20 years.
