About me
DR TAMMY ESRICH, D.Clin.Psych., C Psychol., Bsc (Hons)
Hello, I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 24 years of experience of working in the NHS with adults with a range of psychological difficulties. I am member of the British Psychological Society and am registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). I currently work part time in the NHS in addition to having my own independent practice.
ABOUT CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
Clinical Psychologists aim to reduce psychological distress and enhance psychological well-being. This often allows people to lead more fulfilling lives and do more of what is important to them.
Clinical Psychologists are trained to Doctorate level in a range of evidence-based talking therapies across the life span. They are able to draw on a wide range of psychological models and therapies and tailor intervention to suit individual need based on unique circumstances and experiences.
WHAT TO EXPECT
I appreciate how daunting it can seem to speak to someone you have never met before about issues that are troubling you. It may help a little to know what to expect. During our initial consultation I hope to be able to put you at ease. I will ask you about the difficulties you are experiencing and take a detailed history from you. This will be done at a pace that is comfortable for you. This information will help us to develop a joint understanding of how the problem has developed and what may be maintaining it. This can then be used to inform intervention and we can go on to discuss the therapeutic approaches which may be most helpful for you. Therapeutic approaches that I draw from include, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) and Mindfulness.
