Dom Nowak

Integrative counsellor

Hello and thank you for stopping by.

My name is Dom, and after experiencing the transformative power of therapy myself — and earning a fair few bruises and badges from the school of life — I decided to follow a vocation of helping others navigate their internal struggles, even when everything on the surface seems “just fine.”

I’d now like to offer you the same confidential, non-judgemental, and compassionate support that I once received.

My Journey

Before training as a counsellor, I worked as an HR manager across private, corporate, non-profit, and charity sectors. I’ve always been fascinated by people, the dynamics between us, and the many games we play throughout our dear life to hold on to it and make sense of it.

Following those interests, I first trained as a Professional Coach and Mental Health First Aider, before embarking on the path to becoming a qualified professional Counsellor.

My Approach

I offer a trauma-informed therapeutic approach, ensuring that you are fully informed and in agreement with the counselling process. I also respect that we each move through therapy at our own pace.

I use traditional talking therapy methods, creative exploration of moments when we feel stuck, and practices that help clear the mind and reconnect with it — through mindfulness and the healing power of nature (only if you’re happy to have a walk and talk during our session!).

Mind hacks, cognitive corrections, and coping mechanisms exist for a reason: to help us feel safe and in control.

In our sessions, we’re not striving for perfection. Instead, we witness and accept the full range of your human experience, so we can assess whether those survival skills are still needed — and in what form.

What Therapy Can Feel Like

Therapy doesn’t always feel great – some people stop it because sessions get hard; some people start it because a lifetime spent fighting a war with themselves and everything around them in the dark is much harder.

So, how do we get the light in? Simple, but not easy – we have to feel the feelings. All of them.

We haven’t been given a manual for this liberating – but often challenging – process. But you don’t have to do it alone.

I’m very aware that many factors (work, family, money, ambitions, social norms and expectations to name a few) try to talk us out of the simple act of feeling. I also believe that admitting you’re not okay and that you need help is an act of courage.

What I Offer

I’d be honoured to offer you space and guidance to explore what’s really going on in your life, embrace every part of yourself, build deep, genuine, and meaningful relationships, and create a future to cherish.

I’ll be happy to help you with:

expressing your feelings and processing them in a safe and supportive relationship

gaining deeper insight into the issues you face

talking about things you might not feel able to discuss with anyone else, in a confidential environment

finding better ways to cope with feelings and fears

changing how you think about yourself to improve your mental and emotional wellbeing

learning to communicate better and tolerate differences in yourself and others

improving relationships in your life — including the one with yourself
