Play and Creative Arts Therapist
BSc (Hons) Psychology, PGCert Primary Education, PGCert Therapeutic Play Skills, PGDip Play Therapy (PTUK Certified)
Hello, I’m Becca, a Play and Creative Arts Therapist working with children aged 4 to 12. I support a wide range of emotional social and developmental needs, with particular expertise in SEND and complex additional needs.
Children come to play therapy for many different reasons. Some may be experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, low self-esteem, friendship difficulties, loss, family change, or challenges at school. Others may be neurodivergent, or may communicate and experience the world differently, including children who are preverbal or have sensory and communication differences.
Play therapy can also be helpful for any child who simply needs some dedicated time and space with a trusted adult—somewhere to process, explore, and express thoughts and feelings that may feel confusing or difficult to put into words.
My approach is child-centred, gentle, and trauma-informed. I provide a calm and accepting space where children can express themselves in the way that feels most natural to them and at their own pace—whether through play, creativity, movement, sensory exploration, or words. I carefully adapt my approach to ensure therapy is accessible, meaningful, and supportive for every child.
I began working with children 20 years ago whilst studying Psychology and later trained as a teacher, gaining experience in both mainstream and specialist SEND schools. Over time, my passion has evolved into supporting children’s emotional wellbeing, and I’ve worked therapeutically with children and their families for the past 12 years.
Alongside individual sessions, I can offer Parent-Child Attachment Play (PCAP), supporting parents and carers to strengthen connection and feel more confident in responding to their child’s needs through playful approaches. I can also work collaboratively with schools and other professionals to provide consistent, joined-up support.
I understand that seeking support can feel like a big step. My aim is to offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space for both children and their parents, so you feel listened to and supported throughout the process.
If you would like to get in touch, please feel free to email me to arrange a free 15-minute telephone call to explore how I might be able to support your child.
