Lucy Aldridge
Psychological Therapist and Mental Health Practitioner – MA/DipSW
PGDip Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy
I am a psychological therapist, trained in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy and having recently completed training in EMDR (eye movement, desensitisation and reprocessing). I have worked as a mental health practitioner and psychological therapist in the NHS and Local Authority for over 30 years, in both clinical and clincial leadership roles.
I have a particular interest and skill in working with trauma, including from childhood experiences, and with women in the perinatal period. However, I am also experienced in working with a range of anxiety presentations, depression, or with those who feel they are over-whelmed, or struggling to cope with the demands of life.
I offer a non-judgemental, compassionate space in which to explore your difficulties. and work towards change. I believe the therapeutic relationship I have with my clients is of paramount importance to the success of any therapy, and building a successful therapeutic connection is the first step towards success in any therapeutic endeavour.
For this reason, I offer a 15 minute free telephone discussion for us to see if we are happy to work together, before we agree the way forward.
What happens next…
If we agree to work together we will usually spend one or two sessions clarifying your current difficulties and agreeing how we can work together to help you through these. This is also an opportunity for me to get to know you better, so any therapy can be personalised. We are all unique, and part of my job is to find out which therapeutic interventions are right for you at this time.
We will normally then agree an initial number of sessions, which can be reviewed as we go. Many difficulties can be resolved within 8 – 16 sessions; some people need less than this while others need more. Research suggests there can be significant benefits from a single session, and I have extensive experience of working within this format. I will always be open and honest about what I think you need, and be clear about what I believe we can achieve within any budget you may have.
If you have any questions, please contact me at lucyajaldridge@pm.me.
Fees…
After the initial free telephone discussion, fees are £70 for a 50 minute session.
Payment by BACS is preferred, but cheque or cash are also accepted.
