Dr Darnley Payne

Dr Payne is a Counselling Psychologist. He completed a Practitioner’s Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at Wolverhampton University. Dr Payne has worked as a Counselling Psychologist in several different settings. His experience includes working in a counselling service for clients with a range of mental health problems, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, bereavement and the effects of trauma. He has also worked in Hospice palliative care, helping family members who faced the loss of a loved one, using both pre-loss and post-loss counselling approaches. In addition, Dr Payne has experience of working with victims of crime: counselling and supporting them through the after-effects of their trauma. Furthermore, he holds an academic post as an Associate Lecturer with the Open University, teaching and delivering Psychology and Counselling modules, which helps to inform his practice.
